Meat is a large part of American's diet. Do you know where your beef, pork and poultry come from? You wouldn't want to know. Have you seen pigs and chickens contently foraging for food in a farmer's barnyard lately? The reason you haven't is due to factory farms, a barbaric and inhumane system to maximize output from these animals.
There is an alternative. You don't need to go vegetarian. Simply support Free-Range animal farming. In these humane settings, the animals are able to live naturally in an outside setting as they would in a natural habitat. They get to live a life before they donate it to us. It's healthier for them and us.
You are what you eat. Do we really know where our food comes from and the manner in which it's raised? Most of us do not. We are just beginning to become aware of the vast chemical ingredients in our food stock, under the auspices of lengthening shelf life.
Everything we eat enters our system, the good and bad. Like fish in a polluted lake, we accumulate internally the harmful ingredients in our food stock. Is it a coincidence that cancer is increasing, despite the countless sums of money thrown at it? Might harmful chemical additives play a part?
